With new construction moving in the right direction in central Indiana, you may be making plans to build your new home instead of purchasing an existing property.
The National Association of Home Builders has done significant research on new home features least likely to be included and most likely to be included in most building projects.
Overall, an increased interest in energy efficiency is leading a lot of builders to move away from two-story foyers and rooms that consumers feel are energy inefficient. With utility prices on the rise, that is not a surprising trend.
Features you’re not likely to see in a new home this year include:
- Outdoor kitchens
- Laminate countertops
- Whirlpool in the master bath
- Carpeting, especially on main level
So, what will you see more of in a new home?
- Walk in closet in the master bedroom
- Energy-star rated appliances
- Guest room (kitchen-family room-living room)
- Two-car garage
