How Will You Find Your Next REALTOR®?
Buying or selling a home is a significant life experience. You’ve decided you won’t go it alone and now you need a REALTOR®, but which one?
According to the National Association of REALTORS®’ latest Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, potential buyers get their best advice from family or friends. In fact, 40 percent of buyers found their agent through a referral of a friend, family member, or neighbor. Another 12 percent used an agent they had worked with before.
On the seller side, 38 percent found their agent through a referral and 22 percent went with an agent they had previously used.
If you don’t have a good referral, drive around the neighbors you like. Are you seeing some of the same real state company brands or even agent names more than once? If so, that’s a decent sign that agent knows the area well and can help you find your next home.
Visit open houses. Many people meet their agent at an open house. If you are a buyer, you can sure an agent will ask if you are working with an agent. If you are, be honest and tell them. If not, that agent might be worth considering. Visiting open houses is a great opportunity for sellers too. Visit homes comparable to yours to get an idea of how it is priced and marketed. You might just find an agent in the process.
