“Moving can be the most rewarding, but also the most stressful,” says Frank Schofield, an associate broker with Summit REALTORS®. But don’t fret, we have tips from real estate pros to help make your house hunt less dramatic.
So destress and read the following tips:
Determine what you want upfront, and stick to that criteria.
When you are on the house hunt it is important to think about what you really want. This will narrow down your scope. Instead of looking at hundreds of homes, you will look at ones that fit your criteria.
Get pre-approved for a mortgage.
Avoid delays by getting your loan pre-approved. That way when you do find your dream home nothing will stand in your way.
Make sure to share your biggest stressors and fears you have in the home-buying process with your agent. This will help the house hunt to be a smoother transaction.
Don’t linger too long.
For home-buyers on a deadline, begin your search four to six months in advance to start learning more about the market. Mortgage rates are forecasted to be higher this year, buyers who wait too long may find they can’t afford the house they originally wanted.
