The Latest on Drone Use

Industry Insider is a publication distributed by MIBOR every other Friday to Managing Brokers.

The Latest on Drone Use
We have previously reported on the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) stance on drone (unmanned aircraft systems) use in real estate. Presently, the FAA is reviewing and revising the rules for use in commercial or business practices. A senior FAA official spoke at the REALTORS® Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo in Washington, DC last week and reported that the rules revision is several months away.

As it stands now, the FAA approves drone use for all commercial purposes – including real estate – on a case-by-case basis only. You may not fly a drone for commercial uses without express permission obtained from the FAA in the form of an exemption.

Syndicating Listings to Zillow Group through the BLC® Listing Service
As previously reported, ListHub discontinued syndicating listings to Zillow and Trulia. MIBOR has an agreement with The Zillow Group to allow the managing broker of your firm to opt-in through the BLC® listing service to send listings directly to both Zillow and Trulia. Note that Trulia is now owned by the Zillow Group. To streamline the opt-in process, MIBOR obtained a list from both ListHub and Zillow of brokerages that had previously chosen to advertise on Zillow and Trulia through ListHub. Based on the Zillow list, your office has been opted-in to send active listings of your brokerage, which are marked as “Public Internet Yes” in the listing service, to the Zillow Group for display on Zillow and Trulia.

If you would like to opt-out (or opt-in if not already on the list), to sending listings to the Zillow Group, or if you would like to verify that your offices are opted-in, click here to visit the Listing Syndication information page on
The MIBOR Dashboard has been rebranded to MIBOR Snapshot. It still provides high level market data to you in an instant. Click here to view. The Dashboard is currently updated with April 2015 data.
