Drones in Real Estate

Industry Insider is a publication distributed by MIBOR every other Friday to Managing Brokers.

Drones in Real Estate

MIBOR has received questions regarding the use of Drones, also called UAV’s (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), in the real estate industry. REALTORS® should be aware that the Federal Aviation Administration has prohibited their use for any commercial purposes (including the real estate industry), and it is anticipated that it will be 2015 before rules are drafted and released. The FAA is developing a regulatory framework that would integrate UAV’s into the national airspace, while ensuring safety, privacy, and national security. The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) has made the following statement in an article posted on their website:  “Given the current FAA prohibition, the National Association of REALTORS® recommends that its members not use this technology for any purpose related to selling property.”  Click here to see the full article.

Earlier this week, NAR submitted a letter to the FAA asking the agency to lift the ban on drones in real estate. Click here to learn more.

Our FBI contacts have asked for any additional cases that have yet to be reported. If you have experienced an incident of wire transfer fraud, please contact Debbie Fairfax at or 317-956-5241.

  Looking for Legal in Realist?
Though there is no field titled Legal in Realist, there is Subdivision. At the bottom of ‘My Search’ you can select ‘Edit Attributes’. Once selected, check the box next to subdivision then select ‘Apply’. Subdivision will then be added to the very bottom of ‘My Search’.  Click on ‘select from list’ within the Subdivision search cell. Type in the name of the legal and select enter. Then add the fields you are interested in to the selected fields.  Tip:  When inputting Legal, try to just stick to keywords in the legal description, i.e. instead of ‘Ironwood Lake’, just type ‘Ironwood’.
