Central Indiana Home Prices Stay Strong, Closed Sales Trail
Housing data released by the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of REALTORS® (MIBOR) this week shows a continued increase in home prices in central Indiana with decreases in pending and closed sales. Months of Inventory – a measure of active properties available for purchase – increased in August to place the availability of properties at 5.8 months. Four to six months is generally viewed as a viable amount for buyers and sellers.
Median Sales Price for the quarter ending in August grew 3.2 percent to $142,500 compared to the same quarter last year. Average Sales Price grew 5.2 percent to $176,068 for the quarter ending in June 2014 compared to 2013.
Hamilton, Johnson and Shelby counties all had a strong August and quarter, outpaced the region in median and average sales price increases and closed sales.
