Session Speaker – Government Consolidation
Rylan Hall
Central Indiana Field Director, MySmartgov.org

Rylan Hall has worked in city government for the past five years, most recently serving as the neighborhood liaison in Lawrence Township under Mayor Greg Ballard.  In that capacity, Hall worked with neighborhood and merchant groups, nonprofit organizations, and city councilors to find solutions to complex community and economic development issues.

Rylan was also part of a team that, in 2006, successfully lobbied for residential tax sale reform at the state legislature, enabling municipalities to have a greater impact working with neighborhoods to repair and revitalize abandoned and vacant homes. At the time, Rylan was responsible for the oversight of the Unsafe Building Program for the city of Indianapolis.

From 2004-2005, Hall worked in the Mayor Peterson’s office as deputy director of communications, coordinating efforts between the mayor’s office, residents and the business community.

Immediately after college Rylan gained a legislative knowledge base interning in the Indiana Senate. In 2004 he went to Bose Treacy Associates, a private lobbying firm, to garner experience at the legislature outside chamber doors.

His bachelor's degree in public affairs is from Indiana University and Rylan is working toward a master’s degree from Ball State University in business management.
