SIX STEPS TO BECOMING A REALTOR® MEMBER
1. Obtain your real estate license.
2. Select your membership classification.
- Designated REALTOR®: Broker or appraiser (licensed and/or certified) who has fulfilled membership requirements in a local, state and national Board of REALTORS®.
- REALTOR®: Broker, salesperson or appraiser (licensed and/or certified) who is associated with a Designated REALTOR® and who has fulfilled membership requirements in local, state and national Board of REALTORS®.
- REALTOR® Assistant: Broker, salesperson or appraiser (licensed and/or certified) who is associated with a Designated REALTOR® and who has fulfilled membership requirements in local, state and national Board of REALTORS® and who engages in any form of real estate including: buying, selling, appraising, writing offers and/or any other option for a REALTOR® for whom they are working.
- Corporate Affiliate: Individuals associated with a company, firm or corporation, which are related to or have an interest in the real estate industry, but are not engaged in the real estate profession's activities of appraising, buying, selling, exchanging, renting, leasing or managing real estate for compensation.
3. Find out about the benefits of MIBOR membership.
4. Complete the appropriate REALTOR® application form.

5. Send MIBOR the following information by the 15th of the month.
- completed application form
- a copy of your Broker, Salesperson or Appraiser's license

6. Attend a MIBOR New Member Orientation class within three months.
New Member Orientation is a requirement for membership. It must be completed within three months from the approval of application or the application will be deactivated. Post cards will be mailed as a reminder to call and schedule New Member Orientation.
New Member Orientation is from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month following the month you make application.
New Designated REALTOR® Orientation is on the first Friday of the month from 9 - 11 a.m. following the month you make application. Broker/Owners who have never been a member of MIBOR or who have been an inactive member for two or more years, are required to complete New Member Orientation AND New Designated REALTOR® Orientation.
