Much of the important work of MIBOR is accomplished through the volunteer efforts of our members. Following is a listing of the many areas in which MIBOR committees and task forces help to shape policies and provide direction to the MIBOR staff. If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities, you may contact the committee liaison by phone or e-mail them by clicking on their name.

Committees

Education Advisory Group — The Advisory Group's purpose is to advise staff on the appropriateness of educational programming for MIBOR members. For more information call Debbie Fairfax at (317) 956-5000 x241.

Election — The committee organizes and oversees the election process for the candidates for the Board and Committee Chairs. Each committee member is responsible to attend at least one election meeting to perform introductions of all candidates and explain the voting process. Following the last day of the elections all committee members will participate in the tallying of ballots and be responsible to contact all candidates with the final election results. Finance — Supervises all Board finances, reviews and reports financial and the operation budgets for the Board of Directors. Provides for the annual audit and directs the investing for the Board funds. This committee is open to REALTORS® only. Committee size is limited. Grievance — Reviews all complaints, grievances and arbitration request filed at MIBOR by REALTORS® and the public. Committee membership is open to REALTORS® only who are interested in upholding the Code of Ethics at MIBOR and learning a lot about current practices. Attendance at a Professional Standards Training seminar and meeting approximately once a month is required. A two-year commitment is requested. BLCâ„¢ listing service — Identifies problems, solutions and new ideas for the operation of the BLCâ„¢ listing service system. To serve on this committee you must be a REALTOR® member. For more information call Tom Renkert at (317) 956-5000 x254.

Professional Standards — Serves as a hearing panel to determine awards on commissions in violation of the Code of Ethics. Committee membership is open to REALTOR® members with more than three years of experience as a REALTOR® and prior Grievance Committee experience is preferable. A thorough understanding of the Code of Ethics and procuring cause is a must. Committee members must be willing to attend a minimum of one Professional Standards training seminar prior to service on a hearing panel. RPAC/MPAC Trustees — Considers and approves contributions to local political candidates and issues. For more information call Chris Pryor at (317) 956-5000 x240.

Task Forces

Cooperation Task Force — Explorers issues and methods for further improving cooperation among members. For more information call Debbie Fairfax at (317) 956-5000 x241.

Foreclosure Task Force — Studies the trends and practices surrounding foreclosure rates in central Indiana. For more information call Debbie Fairfax at (317) 956-5000 x241.

Mold Task Force - Reviews issues surrounding mold and its implications in housing. For more information call Debbie Fairfax at (317) 956-5000 x241.

REALTOR® Foundation Board of Directors — Provides direction for the REALTOR® Foundation, including fundraising and promotional events. Committee membership is available for all fundraising events. Board membership is limited to 15 members and requires a three-year commitment. For more information call Claire Belby at (317) 956-5000 x232.
