MIBOR Elections

Director Candidate Selection Process
MIBOR's Nominating Committee chooses the Director Candidates. The Nominating Committee's role is to screen and select candidates to run for the position of Director. The Nominating Committee includes the retiring directors, the previous past president, the immediate past president, and the most recent REAL moderator.

The Election Process
MIBOR staff under the supervision of the Election Committee handles the election process. This committee is made up of REALTOR® volunteers responsible for overseeing the entire election process…from the Candidate Orientation, to announcing the election results to the candidates, MIBOR membership and staff.

Director Candidates are invited to attend a Candidate Orientation, which provides them with the opportunity to meet the election committee, receive ideas for campaigning, receive MIBOR's Mission Statement, be informed of Director obligations, and learn about the election process. Candidates may speak at their respective division meetings and contact members by phone or mail. Candidates will determine and be responsible for their own "campaign expenses".

The Voting Process
MIBOR will mail election instructions and candidate biographies to all eligible voters prior to the election. All votes will be cast on an approved, secure Internet site administered by an outside vendor, InternetCrusade. The results will be tabulated by InternetCrusade and sent to the members of the Election Committee on the first business day following the close of the election period. After the candidates are notified, the results of the election will be announced to the MIBOR membership.
