REAL
The Real Estate Academy of Leadership, called REAL for short, is a 10-month academy established in 1995 by the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of REALTORS® (MIBOR) to help develop a pool of potential leaders for the central Indiana real estate industry. Program participants include rising stars not only in residential home sales, but in the commercial brokerage, inspection, new home construction, appraisal, title and mortgage industries as well.
REAL offers a comprehensive overview of the challenges and strengths of central Indiana's economy, and more importantly, helps REALTORS® understand how they play a role.
The 10-month journey exposes the diverse group of participants to a variety of topics through one-day seminars, site visits and experiential learning sessions.
The program has 200 alumni, with many serving or having served in board and community leadership roles. The admissions process is selective, and the positive word-of-mouth about the programs has academy openings in hot demand.
Candidates are eligible for selection after being a MIBOR REALTOR® member or MIBOR affiliate member for a minimum of two years. However, it is equally important that the candidates possess a strong commitment to working for positive change. Volunteer activity, both in MIBOR and the central Indiana community, is important for acceptance to the program.
