Housing data released by MIBOR show a strong December to close out 2015. Encouraging growth in Pending and Closed Sales in the region made for an atypical winter month, due in part to a mix of eager buyers and welcome mild weather. In December, Pending Sales grew 19.3 percent for the month while Closed Sales increased 11.5 percent compared to December, 2014.
New Listings in central Indiana increased only slightly by 0.1 percent for the month echoing the back and forth nature of this metric all year. The instability of New Listings further contributes to the low inventory experienced in our region and throughout the U.S. Prices continued to gain traction. The Median Sales Price increased 6.7 percent to $144,000. Average Sales Price rose 4.5 percent in December. Both increases were typical for 2015.
