Don't let spring pests bug you!

Published Monday, April 11, 2016

Birds chirping, flowers starting to bloom, temperatures (hopefully) starting to rise......and insects....all over the house? This might not be the visual you were looking for this Spring. Whether you choose to hire a professional to address a bug/pest issue or use a do-it-yourself method there are several really basic yet effective ways to keep a problem from getting out of hand.

Keep it Clean

Pests are hungry and on the hunt for a good snack. So the first thing you can do to help eliminate their intrusion is cleaning up spills and crumbs right away.

Also take out your trash often, store flour, sugar and other dry ingredients in sealed bags or airtight containers, and wash dishes right after a meal.

Stay Dry

Some of our pests are drawn to water - particularly mosquitoes and cockroaches. Avoid leaving standing water in your sink, or small puddles on the floor. Take a look at leaky pipes, sinks and appliances and be sure they are not dripping water.
