MIBOR REALTOR® Association, City Planners from Central Indiana Region Convene for Walkability Audit and WalkShop in Franklin, IN

INDIANAPOLIS — A recent study by the Brookings Institution found that the walkability of urban areas has a direct impact on real estate values and rents. The study found that people prefer to live in communities that allow them to walk to shops, parks and other destinations and will pay more for a home that allows them to do just that.

This is one of many reasons local officials and city planners are evaluating walkability and integrating walkable urban infrastructure into their comprehensive plans.

It is also why MIBOR REALTOR® Association, in partnership with the National Association of REALTORS® and the City of Franklin, will host city planners and officials from across the region for a walkability audit and walkshop on Thursday March 9 and Friday March 10, 2017. National walkability consultants with Blue Zones®, LLC will also be on hand to help identify opportunities to enhance local communities, make better connections and support a more people- and business-friendly environment.
