  2. Speak with a lender and obtain loan pre–approval so you begin your home search in the appropriate price range.
  3. Ask your REALTOR® about the $8,000 first–time homebuyer tax credit.
  4. Develop a list of wants and needs specific to a home’s amenities, neighborhood, commute time, etc. Make a clear distinction between a “want” and a “need”.
  5. Think ahead. Assess your current needs vs. your anticipated needs five years from now specific to family size, lifestyle and employment.
