volunteerVolunteers Make a Difference
Where would nonprofit organizations be without volunteers? In most cases, they would simply cease to exist. As service organizations strive to cut costs by paying fewer staff members, they are forced to rely heavily on volunteer participation.

In fact, in a twelve-month span ending September 2007, 60.8 million people volunteered nationwide, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Click here to check out the full report and view more statistics. MORE

Lucas Family Lends Their Name to More Than Just the Stadium
Forrest and Charlotte Lucas, recently famous Hoosiers who will soon have their name on the Colts' new home, have added their name to an important event: they are the 2008 Honorary Statewide Chairpersons for the Homeward Bound Walk series. The event is coordinated by ICHHI (Indiana Coalition on Housing and Homeless Issues), which reports that "Since its inception in 2003, Homeward Bound has raised nearly $2,000,000 for over 90 affordable housing and homeless service providers around the state, making it Indiana's largest grassroots fundraiser with the ultimate goal of ending homelessness. In 2007 alone, Homeward Bound raised nearly $540,000." This year's central Indiana walk will be held on April 27 at 2 p.m. in University Park.
