Pathway to Recovery Turns Lives Around
PTR_Core_GroupA woman in her early forties entered the room. Those of us who sat around the table, waiting to hear about the latest news at Pathway to Recovery thought she could be a new staff member. She was well dressed and put together. In the span of a few minutes, she reminded us that appearances can be deceiving. This woman was a new client of Pathway to Recovery, only 30 days clean and looking for a new life. She had been severely traumatized early in her life by witnessing her father's suicide. She had recently been diagnosed as bi-polar. She had turned to drugs to compensate for both, and in the process had committed crimes and become homeless and nearly suicidal. Through her tears, which spoke volumes about the regrets she had, she told us her story.

But then smiles broke through as she told us how she was finally on the 'path' to a better life with the help of the staff at Pathway. She told us how she had reunited with her children and siblings; how she had just gotten a lighter sentence for her crimes because the judge looked so favorably on Pathway's work; how she knew she could turn her life around this time.

Thank you to Jim, Ivy, Becky and Sandy (pictured) who keep changing lives at Pathway to Recovery!

How Helping Others Changed My Life
Jayne_GauciA knock on my office door and he slid in with that mischievous smile on his face. "I have a favor to ask you," Roger said. He was asking me to make a small donation from every closing to benefit the REALTOR® Foundation (my mind raced to recall what the heck the REALTOR® Foundation was...no answer). If Roger needed help...well of course I could! Being a new agent, I had no idea what a standard "small donation" was. In an effort to help my new friend, I signed up and hoped $50 would be honorable. I never gave the request another thought and went about the business of selling homes and becoming a better REALTOR®.

Fall came and Roger again eased into my office. He had come to invite me to a reception for the REALTOR® Foundation (that word again). A fun night out and a chance to cure my ignorance about something I felt I should know more about. Yes, of course I would be happy to tour a new condo project, enjoy food, wine, and a chance to meet experienced REALTORS®.  MORE
