This month's auction item

Believe in Magic!
The stores are putting out their Christmas decorations so we might as well promote our favorite jolly old elf. That's right - the REALTOR® Foundation is bringing back a visit with Santa as the online auction item. This Santa is the real deal, straight from the North Pole to your event or family gathering. Fun was had by all at the 2nd Annual Oktoberfest. A performance by Bruce and Grant Lyons and several other karaoke stars entertained the crowd at the Rathskeller. Click here to view pictures from the event.

Residents find 'Hope' in Hancock County
by Ellie Delcomyn, Executive Director of Hancock Hope House

Hancock_Hope_HouseThanksgiving weekend 2007 brought a new resident to the Hancock Hope House. After living in a physically and mentally abusive relationship, Brenda T. received needed medical treatment at an area hospital and then was directed to the doorway of the Hancock Hope House.

Until that moment in time, Brenda's life was much like most of ours. Her middle class working lifestyle provided her with the necessities and some of the little extras that we need for our survival. She, like most of us, never thought that one day she would find herself homeless and at the door of a shelter seeking a safe place to live, food, clothing and life skill classes. MORE

Guest columnist Nancy Patterson
NancyI initially got involved with the REALTOR® Foundation by working on the President's Ball Committee. The REALTOR® Foundation is such a positive group that feels strongly about what happens in our communities and I feel honored to work with this dedicated group to support these endeavors. It is disturbing and sad to know that there are many women and children homeless due to events out of their control along with the many other individuals struggling with personal problems trying to cope with day-to-day survival.

As Chair of The Ball 2009, I encourage all of our members to attend this upcoming event on January 24, 2009 and support the REALTOR® Foundation. The live auction promises to be lively and hilarious while the silent auction has lots of great items to bid on - both to be experienced while enjoying music from The Fabulous Imports! This band will have you out of your chair, on the dance floor and is guaranteed to appeal to all. Please join us as we welcome our new leadership, recognize the service award benefactors and enjoy a wonderful evening. Hope to see you there.

Kaye Hirt Eggleston: One of the Foundation's biggest supporters will lead next year's effort
EgglestonNext year's Foundation Board President Kaye Hirt Eggleston shares a bit with us about her passion for the Foundation's work: "I got involved as a way to honor my mom (who had been a lifetime REALTOR®), originally, and support our efforts to show that REALTORS® cared about people who no longer had homes, never had a stable home, and needed a caring safety net in their lives. Real estate has been a challenging and rewarding career, and I wanted to give back to the REALTOR® community as well as the greater Indianapolis area.
