Oktoberfest Rocks Again!

The third annual Oktoberfest once again proved that the combination of an exciting property, great food and drink, and good company make for a great party. Thanks to all who came out for the event held at Anson. Through the purchase of silent auction items and paper dolls, you helped raise over $2,000!

Thanks to our sponsors of the event, Hansen & Horn, Duke Realty (Anson), and Monarch Beverage.

Your efforts made a significant difference as the REALTOR® Foundation Board of Directors approaches its final decision regarding grant allocations for 2010. On October 15, they will decide which organizations are funded based on the Foundation’s fundraising success to date. Every dollar raised each day until the October 15 deadline makes a difference in a homeless person’s future.

What’s so great about a paper doll?

In recent weeks, you may have been approached to buy a doll for the REALTOR® Foundation. You may have asked yourself, “Just what is this doll and why should I buy one?” The answer is simple: because this paper doll, simple as it is, was decorated by a homeless child. It’s our reminder that thousands of children are homeless in Indianapolis and that the average age of the homeless is nine-years old.

If you haven’t heard about the Paper Doll Project, now is the time to learn. Dolls can be purchased for $250, $100, $50, $25, $10, or $5. You keep the doll and can hang it anywhere – in your office, at home, on your refrigerator – anywhere! It’s a token of our appreciation to you and hopefully a reminder about this important cause.

To purchase your doll today, contact Molly Hahn at 317/956-5255 or mollyhahn@realtorfoundation.com.

Chicago Title Insurance Company

In a year in which everyone would agree that the economy has been tumultuous and general philanthropy has declined, Chicago Title Insurance Company remains the Foundation’s largest supporter. In their second year of a three-year, $10,000 per-year commitment to the Foundation’s efforts to solve homelessness, Chicago Title has truly taken a leadership position. When asked why Chicago Title is so dedicated, Sales Manager Melissa McGill replied, “We knew when we made our 3-year commitment we were doing so in a tough economic situation. At the same time, we knew this meant the rate of homelessness would be on the rise as well. We feel very fortunate to have prospered in recent years and are privileged to be able to give back to central Indiana by helping the homeless access the services they need.”

Thanks to Chicago Title for its leadership in this year’s fundraising efforts!
