REALTORS® are also involved with organizations that shape decisions on housing and the economy, such as local chambers of commerce and the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership. But one of the most crucial partnerships exists between REALTORS® and central Indiana's local economic development organizations (LEDOs).

MIBOR invests in a seat on the board of directors for all of the local economic development organizations in our 10-county area. REALTORS® serve on these boards, and influence and contribute to the organizations whose mission is to increase jobs, wages and the labor force.

In turn, the LEDOs help market central Indiana counties to attract new business and retain existing industries. A LEDO may provide a range of services and information in the process. It may help businesses identify prospective locations by providing cost of doing business analyses, utility rate estimates, community profiles, lists of business contacts, comparative information and demographic and economic data. LEDOs can help direct interested companies to available buildings and land, and can even arrange and conduct site and facility tours. In short, the LEDOs are experts at marketing their county, and the central Indiana region as a whole.

REALTOR® support of the LEDOs is absolutely essential in bringing in new business or helping existing companies to expand. REALTORS® have an expansive database of listings and available sites, as well as market knowledge and expertise to help business prospects with their relocation or expansion needs.

REALTORS® work with organizations that bring quality employers to central Indiana and encourage the growth and expansion of existing businesses. MIBOR provides funding and market data to these groups to help support this positive growth, and encourages MIBOR members to participate and hold positions of leadership in these collaborative organizations.
