5 Must-see Holiday Light Displays in Indy
It’s finally that time of year – holiday light displays are back! Central Indiana is full of dazzling displays of twinkling lights and fun festivities to do this holiday season.
1. Winterlights at Newfields
Winterlights is sure to impress this holiday season with its expansive display of over a million and a half glittering lights throughout the gorgeous grounds of Newfields. The event offers music-synchronized light shows, mistletoe photo ops and even adult-friendly beverages like spiked hot cocoa and cider. Check out Winterlights now through January 2, 2022.
2. Circle of Lights at Monument Circle
An epic holiday tradition dating back to 1962, the Circle of Lights is a holiday must-see. Repeatedly named one of the best Christmas trees in the nation, visitors will be amazed by the 4,784 lights that create a monumental tree around the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. Be sure to experience the magic yourself, now through December 30, 2021.
3. Christmas Nights of Lights at the Indiana State Fairgrounds
Get ready for a spectacular show at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Christmas Nights of Lights. Drive through 2 miles of over a million twinkling lights imitating snowflakes, candy canes and trees while listening to the synchronized holiday music through your radio. Pile your entire family into the car and visit the Christmas Nights of Lights from now until January 2, 2022.
4. A Merry Prairie at Conner Prairie
Since the early 1990’s the Reynolds family has put on a massive Christmas lights display that quickly became a holiday tradition for local families. As its popularity increased it outgrew its location and was donated to Conner Prairie to keep the tradition going. The Merry Prairie holiday event features acres of the Reynold’s lights to explore, a sock skating rink and the Polar Bear Plunge tubing hill. Visit Conner Prairie Friday through Sunday, until December 19, 2021, to experience the holiday festivities yourself.
5. Christmas at the Zoo at the Indianapolis Zoo
Animals and Christmas lights that look like animals – what could be better? Christmas at the Zoo has been a holiday favorite since 1967, when it became the first zoo in the nation to have a holiday event. Check out your favorite zoo creatures with an added element of holiday fun. Meet Santa, pet a real-life reindeer and wander through the impressive collection of Christmas lights while sipping hot cocoa. Open now through December 30, 2021.
