10 Things to Look for When Buying a Home

When looking for a new home, be smart.  Don’t only passively observe, but look for the important things especially when you could potentially be making the biggest purchase of your life.

In many cases, and more so in competitive markets as the one we are in, you will often walk into an open house that has been staged with expensive, stylish furniture, deep cleaned and maybe even a fresh coat of paint. Don’t be fooled. 

Follow these steps provided by to look beyond the glamour.

  1. Red flag No. 1: Too much sent
    The more aggressive the scent, the greater the likelihood the seller is trying to mask a more offensive odor.
  2. Red flag No. 2: Poor tiling
    Poor tiling could indicate a DIY job that was done poorly. This may indicate other fixes that were done poorly
  3. Red flag No. 3: Foundation Issues
  4. Red flag No. 4: Signs of deferred maintenance
  5. Red flag No. 5: Nearby water
    Nearby water might look appealing, but always consider the possibility of flooding
