Giving Back This Holiday Season
No matter what holiday you celebrate, the end of the year is truly a magical time. People are happier, there is merriment in the air, and no shortage of festive things to do. But what about those who are less fortunate? The holidays aren’t fun when you don’t know where you’ll be sleeping that night or when you don’t know where your next meal will be.
There are so many ways to get involved in the central Indiana community. The easiest way to give back is through the MIBOR REALTOR® Foundation.
Founded in 1984 by the MIBOR REALTOR® Association (MIBOR), the REALTOR® Foundation seeks “To mobilize our real estate community to raise funds and foster support for organizations that transition central Indiana’s homeless to safe and secure housing.”
Since its founding, the REALTOR® Foundation has awarded grants that have helped central Indiana strengthen its communities. The REALTOR® Foundation has provided more than $1.8 Million to regional nonprofits – organizations that work with families experiencing homelessness such as the Dayspring Center or that work with victims of domestic violence such as Coburn House Safe Haven, and organizations that work with vulnerable populations such as Hoosier Veterans and Families or the Damien Center.
While fundraising is important, you can also get involved by donating gently worn items or volunteering your time. For more information on volunteering needs from local non-profits, please click here.
The bottom line this holiday season is get out there, do something for your community, and spread the holiday cheer.
