Baby-proofing Your Home
It’s frustrating trying to live in beautiful, well-decorated home when children are in the equation because children are… well… kind of gross. They’re messy, unorganized, and ultimately dangerous! You want to have certain items of décor but are unable because they’re fragile and can’t trust a child to not break or hurt themselves with it.
Baby-proofing is an endless battle. Anyone who’s around a baby for more than an hour can conclude that a baby can find themselves in a dangerous situation in under 30 seconds at any given time. This article from babylist.com lists the most important items to have in your home to keep it safe from that bundle of joy running rampant in your home.
The two that I believe will help you keep your sanity are safety gates and doorknob covers. These items limit the baby’s ability to wonder into a room they’re not suppose to be in. Rather than baby proofing your entire kitchen, just make it so the child can’t go into the kitchen!
Another one that I believe is often overlooked are furniture anchors. These are “anti-tip” kits so that the baby cannot pull the furniture over and potentially hurt themselves. Think of televisions and bookshelves.
And finally, drawer locks. To run a successful household you have to have some potentially dangerous things in your drawers- cleaning supplies, knives, etc. A drawer lock allows you to keep these items within reach, but unattainable to a baby.
Babies are a responsibility in every sense of the word. It’s always nice to be proactive in life rather than reactive. Add these items to your house so that you can spend more time playing and laughing in a safe environment rather than chasing them around hoping for the best.
